How are you identified?

I think a few weeks ago, on a front page of one local newspaper, there was news about the problems with MyKad chips among the card holders. Recently, I found out my dear lovely husband is one of them.

Without the card, he can't get the EPF statement through the kiosk, or get the Maybank pin to register for his Maybank2u online, or get his bank statement online, or renew his passport asap because he has to do it manually instead of do it online. All these annoyed the hell out of me. And I worry about all these things (well, we ARE expecting a child - and since he'll be the one registering the baby 14 days after the birth, I don't want any problems during the registration especially if the problem is because of his MyKad, furthermore, we ARE in the process of buying a house, and since my baby will pop-out anytime soon, I would certainly prefer to submit all the documents needed to the banks to get the housing loan before that actually happens, and trying to get HIS documents are so difficult).

So yesterday, while trying to get JPN Taman Melawati's branch's no (somehow I still have the perception that if we were going to do all this application process, it will take us a very long time at the counter - the number taking, the queing, the waiting, the meeting the officer blablabla), for the first time, I browse through their website and found out that we can actually apply the MyKad online if its due to three problems, 1. damage/chip replacement, 2. upgrading 32k to 64k chip and 3. lost of card. If you decide to pick it up at the HQ in Putrajaya, you can collect it within 24 hours after you made your application and payment. Since my hubby is trying to save his leaves for more important occassions (like sending me or the baby to the hospital for check-ups), this is like a god-send to us.

We registered through MyEG, applied for the new card, made the payment (RM10 + RM2 for processing fee) and received the receipt that the application is successful in less than 10 minutes. Ok, I'm impressed. And then it was stated that we have to check through their hotline or website or sms after 24 hours payment was made whether the card is ready to be collected or not. We did the application on Monday around 5.45pm, and we checked the status on Tuesday around noon (actually I checked every hour since morning haha, pscyho tak?) andn guess what? Its ready to be collected at Putrajaya HQ. Wah, impressed sekali lagi ya'll.

So now we're just waiting to collect the card, maybe on Friday after my check up. Hopefully once we collect it there won't be any problem with the reader, or the details on the card, or the chip. After all, we can't be THAT unlucky right? Huhu. Will update on the outcome, JPN may get more compliments from me, or not. =)

updated:

Went to collect the IC on Thursday after my check-up with gynea. When hubby did his thumbprint check, somehow it can't be read. So, there reset the prints and install the new ones in the card. SETTLE.

Kudos to JPN. I think I would like to update my IC to 64k chip as well, and update my picture, tak suka gambar tu because tak senyum. Huhu.
